Firearms Licensing

Applications for Firearms Permits, both Firearms Identification (FID) Card and License to Carry (LTC), will be accepted by appointment only.

Any applicant must be at least 18 years of age and be able to show that they have been a resident of Edgartown for at least 1 year.

Please be aware that you need to bring the following with you to your appointment:

  • $100 FEE– Check made payable to Town of Edgartown (applicants over 70 years are exempt from renewal fee, however, first issue must pay).  Please note, we no longer take cash payments – please bring a check to cover the amount due.
  • If this is a first issue permit, a firearms safety certificate or hunter safety course certificate must be submitted at time of licensing procedure (not required for renewal)
    • If you have not yet completed a course and been certified, the Martha’s Vineyard Rod and Gun Club holds classes throughout the year and should be contacted.
  • A photo ID
The process will take approximately twenty minutes at the station and you will be notified at least 4-6 weeks by telephone to come pick it up at the station.
