The Police Prosecutor acts as a liaison between the Cape and Islands District Attorney’s Office and the Edgartown Police Department.
This person’s job is to prepare and submit Department case files for court each day, review police reports, review and sign criminal complaint applications, attend “show cause” hearings, motor vehicle hearings, arraignments and pre-trial conferences, and assure that the victim’s rights are upheld.
In addition to acting as a liaison between the District Court for both adult and juvenile cases, the Police Prosecutor also acts as a liaison between the Department and the Services of Probation and Parole, and, any adult or juvenile correction agencies.
