School Resource Officer

Edgartown Elementary School

The Edgartown Police Department currently has 1 school resource officer, Officer Stephanie Immelt. The school resource officer’s primary duties within the school system include: acting as truant officer, riding or following buses to ensure safety, monitoring the school grounds, assisting school crossing guards, and establishing and assisting in school lockdown procedures and drills.

The school resource officer’s responsibilities also include: assisting students, teachers and staff with issues involving bullying and threats, family issues that may effect a child’s school life as well as acting as a liaison between the Edgartown Elementary School and the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School.
